IR35 Private Sector Reform

Earlier this year, GlaxoSmithKline became one of the first household names to announce that it would no longer engage PSCs after April 2020 due to a change in IR35 rules. ContractorUK have been following the news on each new company to announce the same and has now compiled a list of over a dozen large businesses and well-known brands who will no longer engage PSCs. Bad news for the contractor market. See the full list here:

Top Emerging Jobs for 2020

Around this time we usually start to hear predictions for the following year. One prediction we are looking out for is which industries are anticipated to experience growth, as it follows that these same industries will have an increased recruitment requirement for both permanent and contingent workers. Executive Grapevine have created a list of the jobs which look set to make a significant impact on recruitment in 2020. See the full list here:

Demand for Clarity on IR35

And finally, now that the election is out of the way and Brexit is (so we’re led to believe) drawing to a close, Recruitment Bodies have taken this opportunity to seek clarification from the Government on immigration and IR35. Both are contentious subjects affecting the recruitment industry and as such the REC, APSCo, ARC, CV- Library, QDOS, FCSA and Contractor Calculation have clubbed together to submit their questions. Hopefully the new year will shine some light on each of the topic so the industry can be certain of how to proceed.
